* DOVIA Day for Directors of Volunteers in Agencies
* Held at the Disneyland Hotel during the International Conference on Volunteer Administration (ICVA)

DOVIA Day is hosted by the DOVIAs of Southern California: Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, Orange County and San Diego. This is a golden opportunity for DOVIAs to set a national agenda, "one voice," to identify and connect with other DOVIAS, in order to reap the benefits of our diverse and unique programs and activities.
Ivan Scheier, a futurist and visionary in the field of volunteerism, will facilitate DOVIA Day. Features include successful DOVIA, programs nationwide, topics to discuss with other volunteer managers, a resource table, and the opportunity to set our own agenda with a vision-building and action plan for a national DOVIA voice within AVA.
Please plan to attend and invite your friends and colleagues.
Don't miss this valuable opportunity to network and help set the future direction of the professional field of volunteer management. Further information call Marilyn Kronmal at (310) 458-8300 or Norma Jacobs at (818) 364-3074.
Tell the Phone
Increasingly, DOVIA's coverage is regional or at least multi-county. Besides, it is a long time between meetings when you've got a problem, or a valuable bit of information to share. So, innovative associations are making greater use of Alexander Graham Bell's invention. The Michigan Association for Volunteer Administration has a complimentary phone assistance program for MAVA members. An experienced volunteer administrator will call back within 2-3 days, from a telephone number or fax given for the service. The caller is asked to organize their thoughts first in terms of a'pre-work form.'
DOVIA of King County (Seattle area) has just launched a DOVIA Voice Mail System for information which members want to share at the next meeting or before.
Ideas from All Over
Austin DOVIA is discussing the idea of a reunion, and possibly a Think Tank for advanced members ... then, what about an Exchange Table as a regular meeting feature? Everyone is invited to bring their best material at least for display and if possible extra copies for colleagues to take ... talk about cooperation! The Dallas Association of Directors of Volunteers is planning a major conference in association with neighboring DOVIAs and Volunteer Centers. More, ADV's membership brochure includes space promoting the local Volunteer Center!
